As each 2024 color of the year is announced, one thing is clear: there will be something for everyone in the year ahead. From a deep gray to a warm terracotta and a versatile buttercream hue, each brand’s announcement has us dreaming up new decorating plans.

Now with Benjamin Moore’s color added to the list, we officially feel like the possibilities for 2024 are infinite and endless. This week, the brand revealed its official 2024 Color of the Year pick to be Blue Nova 825.

The beautiful shade is a blend of blue and violet that allures and intrigues, and the brand describes it as a color that “sparks adventure, elevates, and expands horizons,” according to the brand.

A Hue That Has Us Reaching for the Stars

Just as the name suggests, the brand reveals that Blue Nova 825 is named after “the brilliance of a new star formed in space,” and is meant to inspire homeowners to branch out and explore new heights.

The name also fit perfectly into Benjamin Moore’s announcement plan—they launched the selection in Canaveral, Florida, space puns intended.

Alongside Blue Origin and its nonprofit, Club for the Future, the Benjamin Moore team hopes to inspire future generations of STEM leaders with a love of space. Together, the two organizations aim to incorporate Blue Nova into local community hospitals, create space-themed experiences, and more in the year ahead.

But even on the ground, Benjamin Moore feels Blue Nova signifies a marrying of new adventures and classic design in a way that will only elevate everyday living.

“Blue Nova is an alluring, mid-tone blue that balances depth and intrigue with classic appeal and reassurance,” says Andrea Magno, the color marketing and development director at Benjamin Moore.

A Glance at New Adventures and Expanding Horizons

The shade is a particularly stunning pick when paired alongside last year’s Color of the Year selection, Raspberry Blush. While Benjamin Moore’s 2023 selection was all about embracing positivity and potential within our homes, Blue Nova pulls our focus toward new adventures and pushing outside of our own boundaries. It’s also part of a larger color palette with the same mission.

Other Early Color Predictions from the Brand

Benjamin Moore released a slew of colors forecasting to blast off next year with Blue Nova. Some other Benjamin Moore-chosen colors include White Dove OC-17, Antique Pewter 1560, and Hazy Lilac 2116-40.

Blue Nova 825 is just one hue among the Colors Trends 2024 palette meant to blend traditional and modern design. While last year’s palette was highly saturated and veering toward the dramatic, this year’s has a calming subtext, like breaths of fresh air for your home.

“The Color Trends 2024 palette tells a story of duality—juxtaposing light against dark, warm and cool, showcasing complementary and contrasting color pairings,” Magno says. “These contrasts invite us to break away from the ordinary to explore new places and collect color memories that shape the hues used in our homes.”

In their official release, the brand also notes that this palette is meant to evoke endless creative possibilities. With inspiration from both far-off travels and local adventures that break with routine, Benjamin Moore has one goal in mind with their 2024 selection.

“On adventures near or far, we encourage collecting poignant color moments with verve and personality that are unexpected and boundlessly magical,” they say.
