The factors influencing formaldehyde emission of furniture are complex. In terms of its base material, wood-based panel, there are many factors that affect formaldehyde emission of wood-based panel, such as material type, glue type, glue consumption, hot pressing conditions, post-treatment, etc. As formaldehyde emission of furniture, it is necessary to emphasize the following five factors:

1. Decoration mode

The surface decoration of furniture has obvious sealing effect on formaldehyde. In the specific implementation process, attention should be paid to the selection of adhesives with low formaldehyde emission, various decorative materials and coatings and reasonable process to ensure that no new formaldehyde emission will be caused after decoration.

2. Load rate

The so-called carrying rate refers to the ratio of the surface area of indoor furniture exposed to the air to the indoor volume. The higher the loading rate, the higher the formaldehyde concentration. Therefore, when the function is basically satisfied, the number and volume of furniture in the interior space should be reduced as much as possible, so as to reduce the formaldehyde emission in furniture.

3. Diffusion path

It is worth emphasizing that the importance of panel furniture edge. At the same time, in the design of furniture, under the premise of meeting the strength and structure, we can try to use thin plates.

4. Environment

The actual conditions of using environment have a great influence on formaldehyde emission of furniture. Temperature, humidity and ventilation all affect formaldehyde emission. Under normal climatic conditions, the formaldehyde concentration in the air will be doubled when the temperature is increased by 8 ℃; the formaldehyde emission will be increased by about 15% when the humidity is increased by 12%. Therefore, on the premise of conditions, air conditioning and fresh air system devices can be used to adjust the indoor temperature, humidity and fresh air volume, so that formaldehyde emission can be moderately controlled.

5. Time and conditions

The formaldehyde emission concentration of furniture was positively correlated with the aging time after production. Therefore, it should be stored for a period of time before use, and placed in a high temperature and humidity environment during storage to accelerate formaldehyde emission, so as to reduce pollution in later use.
